NewsletterWeek Ending 25/07/2025

~ July 2025 ~

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you sincerely for all your support and trust throughout my time as Acting Headteacher. It has been a true privilege to work with your children and to be a part of this wonderful school community.

I will miss the joy of working with our pupils, the warmth and dedication of our staff, and the strong partnerships we’ve built together.

With Celia Smith joining Forest Town as the new Headteacher, and with the school's recent move to join Nova Education Trust, I am confident that the school is in great hands.

Have a wonderful summer break. I wish you and your children every success and happiness.

With very best wishes,

Elaine Thornhill

As we head into the summer holidays, many children will be spending more time on their phones, tablets, and other devices. With this increased screen time, it’s important to stay mindful of online safety across all apps and platforms.

Children may be exploring new games, social media, or messaging apps, and while these can be fun and engaging, they also come with risks such as exposure to inappropriate content, contact from strangers, or sharing personal information.

We kindly ask you to:

  • Check your child’s devices and review the apps they’re using.
  • Explore privacy settings together to ensure their profiles and content are secure.
  • Have open conversations about what they’re doing online, who they’re talking to, and how to respond if something makes them uncomfortable.
  • Encourage balance by setting healthy boundaries around screen time and promoting offline activities.

There are many helpful resources available to support you:

Mrs Craggs

We are really excited to announce another FREE course through Life Education.

The course will run for 8 weeks starting 18th September 9am-11.30am

This course would be beneficial to any parent/carer who is on the waiting list for the Neurological Behaviour Service as part of the graduated response or any one who is waiting for Early Help Support.

Anybody is welcome to attend. As with the previous course we need a minimum of 8 people to join to run the course.

Please register your interest on the link below, if you need any further information please contact myself.

If you haven’t already done so, please activate your child’s My Child at School (MCAS) account.

You will need this for all aspects of school life whilst your child is at FTPS as this is where you will book breakfast club, give consent for trips, buy items from the Forest Town Primary Shop and book on after school clubs, so it is really important the at least one parent/carer is accessing it.

If you have any issues with the setting-up of MCAS, please contact a member of Team Office who will be happy to assist.
